Butterworth is amongst the many tourist sites located on mainland Penang, North of Seberang Prai. Butterworth functions more of a transit hub relative to Georgetown, which is the happening central city in Penang. The North-South highway cuts through Butterworth as well, providing access to areas in the north and south of Butterworth.

Taman Selat Rope Walk :
The Taman Selat Rope Walk is a flea market. Visitors can score a big bargain from an array of goods sold at this market. Among the many antiques old coins, handicrafts, watches, perfume and more are sold here. There are also foods and drinks sold as well.
Tow Boo Kong Temple :
Also known as the Nine Emperor Gods Temple, this sizeable Taoist temple is a haven for fellow photographers and backpackers alike. The temple truly comes to life during Nine Emperor Gods Festival, which is a nine-day celebration beginning on the eve of the 9th lunar month based on the Chinese calendar.
