Alor Setar is the state capital of Kedah and the second largest city in the state behind Sungai Petani. It also acts as a gateways to the famous island of Langkawi. Alor Setar is known to be the rice bowl of the country due to the paddy it grows in abundance.

Sights and Activities


Kuala Kedah Fort :

In the past the fort was destroyed and rebuilt countless of times due to war over the years, with the first being made out of bamboo. Today, the fort stands watch over the Kedah River. A white timber house stands in the centre of the fort, surrounded by thick brick wall and cannons.

Kedah Paddy Museum :

This museum was built in dedication to the crops that make Kedah the important state it is. The museum exhibits the process of cultivating the rice, the variety of rice, the equipment used and the tools and the other related tools, over the years and in different countries.
