I am sure everybody loves the smell of freshly baked cakes, buns and pastries. Going to bakeries are exciting and fun to visit as each bakery has it’s own speciality and uses different ingredients to turn an otherwise boring snack to an incredibly taste and unique one. Bakeries are the perfect place to grab a nice and healthy breakfast, an wholesome lunch or even a light but filling dinner. As many students and even adults rarely have time to prepare a proper breakfast before heading off to college or work, they usually stop by a bakery to get quick meal. Besides, some even go to bakeries on weekends and holidays just to grab a few buns and cakes for tea time.
Here a a few selection of pastries,buns and cakes that could be bought in the Klang Valley and has egg as it’s main ingredient. So if you are a person who loves trying out new and different foods just read a few of the recommendations here.
Le Bread Days in SS2
Firstly it’s the custard quicksand package that could be found in Le Bread Days which is located in SS2, Petaling Jaya. At this bakery you could just a delicious, creamy custard croissant for RM6.90. The price is reasonable as the custard croissant or otherwise know as Molten Egg Yolk Custard croissant is the bakery’s signature pastry. The pastry is served warm and taste crunchy and crisp on the outside but buttery, gooey and soft on the inside. The bakery is opened from8.30 in the morning until 7.30 in the evening.
Chocolate larva cake in Casa Cacao, Bangsar
This cafe like bakery is made especially for chocolate lovers. They serve milk, white and even dark chocolate desserts. A must try here is definitely the chocolate larva cake with a soft salted egg yolk center. This mouth watering dessert costs RM28. The operating hours are Sunday to Thursday at 1 pm until 12 am while on Friday and Saturday it’s 1pm until 1am. Another sweet treat is the salted egg yolk molten cake that is a specialty in Softcore located in Bandar Sunway. The moist cake has a creamy salted egg yolk and white chocolate filling as is served with ice-cream, crumbles of cornflakes and topped with curry leaves. The bakery on Sundays to Thursday opens at 11.30 am and closes at 11.30 am while on Fridays and Saturdays the bakery closes at 12.30am.
Go Getter Cafe in Bukit Jalil
It is served with a scoop on ice-cream on the top. On Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays the cafe operates from 12pm to 7pm while on Fridays an Saturdays the cafe closes at midnight and on Sunday the operating hours are 10am to 7pm.
Salted egg yolk crepes from Strangers at 47 are also to die for. This cafe is located in Petaling Jaya and operates from 11am to 10pm on Tuesdays. This savoury crepe is served with large tiger prawns, squid, spinach, caramelized onions and roasted cherry tomatoes and it costs RM21.50.
If you have a sweet tooth you can try the salted egg yolk pudding topped with vanilla ice-cream from D’Cuisine located in Plaza 33, Petaling Jaya. The bakery operates from 10am to 10pm.
Another delicious snack would also be the sweet potato fries with salted egg yolk dip from the AMPM Cafe located in Subang Jaya. AMPM opens at 11am and closes at 11pm on Mondays to Thursdays but on Friday they close at midnight while on Saturdays and Sundays they operate from 10am to midnight.
Here is another bun filled with egg yolk that can only be found in Chynna, Hilton Kuala Lumpur. Their roasted salted egg yolk buns are soft and sticky. This treat is finger licking delicious and even the kids will enjoy them. The operating hours at the hotel’s cafe are on Monday to Friday at 12:00 pm until 2:30 pm while on Saturday and Sunday 11am – 2:30 pm which is for lunch but during dinner hours which is 6.30pm until 10.30pm the cafe is opened daily.
